Kingston, Jamaica – December 11, 2018: The Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship – Caribbean launched the premier Branson Centre Summit last Wednesday at the Spanish Court Hotel under the theme ‘Building a multi-million dollar business’.
With over 100 guests in attendance, the summit attracted the movers and shakers of the local business and investment community in addition to up-and-coming entrepreneurs. As the leading non-profit accelerator in the region for scaling businesses, the event was a platform to showcase the Caribbean as a leader in the entrepreneurship space and put the spotlight on the importance of building a global brand.
The event started with the premier of the organization’s brand video, followed by engaging panel discussions under the topics of ‘Building a million dollar business with investment’ and ‘Building a million dollar brand’. Panel participants included a diverse group of business leaders which included Tracy-Ann Spence of NCB Capital Markets; Joanna Banks of PanJam; Conrad Mathison of It’s Pixel Perfect; Richard Gordon of Proven Fund Managers Limited; Naomi Garrick of Garrick Communications; Christopher Boxe of Chilitos JaMexican Restaurant; Nicole McLaren Campbell of AIM Educational Services; and Dr. Anissa Holmes of Delivering WOW.
Entrepreneurs from Branson Centre’s scale-up accelerator programme presented pitches which spotlight their progress throughout the 1-year programme.
The highlight of the evening was a keynote conversation between Marlon Nichols, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Cross Culture Ventures and Branson Centre CEO Lisandra Rickards. “We wanted to encourage successful networking and relationship building between entrepreneurs and the business community and we believe that our mission was accomplished with the Branson Centre Summit.” said Rickards. “We couldn’t have done it without the support of our partners – Virgin Holidays, Virgin Unite, the US Embassy Jamaica, and PROVEN Investments Limited.”
